The global project “Promotion of agricultural financing for agrarian-based companies in rural areas” is part of the special initiative called “One World without Hunger” (SEWOH), funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The aim of the project is the development and use of adapted financial services of microfinance institutions and banks by agricultural enterprises and agronomic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project will be implemented in five country projects in the Republic of Benin, Zambia, Nigeria, Cameroon and Mali as well as the Management Unit (STE) in Bonn. The Nigeria Country Package of the Global Project Advises Companies in the value chains of rice, maize, cassava, potato and cocoa as well as providers of financial services for adapted training, services and financial products. The implementing partners are the rural branch organizations as well as public and private service providers in the agricultural and financial sector. The implementation of the country package began in 2018 will be largely carried out by a consulting firm. The project is linked to the global project called the “Green innovation centers in the Agro-food industry (GVG GIAE)”, while the country package for Nigeria cooperates very closely with the regional projects called the “Competitive African Rice Initiative” (CARI) and “Sustainable Smallholder Agro-Businesses” (SSAB) as well as the bilateral “Pro-poor Growth and Promotion of Employment in Nigeria Programs” (SEDIN). The political sponsor of the country package is the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Household and Economic Planning (Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning).
