AIR is seeking a Technical Advisor to work on an expected four year, USAID-funded Teach for Tomorrow program in Egypt. The activity aims to support the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MOETE’s) Education reform through the design and adoption of an effective in-service Continuous Professional Development system for educators in the primary cycle. Additionally, the activity seeks to support the MOETE to develop and support the implementation of a merit-based teacher licensure/certification system which will ultimately require that educators meet international standards at both the teacher and instructional leader levels.
The Technical Advisor should work, in collaboration with the Chief of Party (COP) and the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), to coordinate all activities with technical approach related to:
• Improving in-service teachers’ professional development
• Designing a continuous professional support system for teachers that is backed with technology and innovation
• Revamping the teachers’ licensure and certification system at MOETE
The Technical Advisor will also be responsible for:
• Sharing new knowledge/evidence and international best practices related to education system reform, in-service teacher education and incentivization
• Support/guide the team of technical experts to design the necessary professional development packages, course design, and systemic and institutional reform
• Provide technical advice based upon expertise and knowledge of evidence-based methods and strategies, current practice, and established research standards to ensure quality and rigorous design
This position is contingent on funding.
• A bachelor’s degree and 10 years, or a master’s degree and 8 years of professional experience in the successful development and implementation of educational reform and professional development programs for educators at the pre-university level
• Degree should be in Education or other relevant field from a nationally or internationally recognized university
• Strong knowledge in international best practices for teacher certification and licensure systems
• Specific experience in teacher training and mentoring, ideally having used innovation and technology to support these areas
• Proven experience in mentorship and staff capacity building
• The ability to participate in all representation and technical meetings in English and Arabic
