Overview of Position
Our Client is seeking an experienced instructor in basic literacy and numeracy to provide full-time instruction to women with limited education background.
This contract receives day to day and week to week oversight from the line manager and other staff. Our client will undertake contracting obligations and remuneration.
The position sits within the Federal Government of Somalia’s National Programme for the Treatment and Handling of Disengaged Combatants and is co-managed by DRP and our client with dual reporting requirements.
Role Objectives
The Trainers will work full time as per Somali Labour Laws, performing the below duties and responsibilities:
Evaluate student literacy and numeracy needs and design curriculum and instruction accordingly based on student needs.
Develop and prepare appropriate training materials for efficient and effective delivery of the skills.
Develop criteria for selecting resources which meet curriculum, informational and student needs.
Promote literacy through teaching either through one on one or group engagement, adapting resources to ensure all students are able to make progress within the groups.
Assess, monitor and record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students.
Provide a stimulating learning environment and provide additional assistance to students with particular learning needs and abilities.
Provide access to information resources through efficient and well guided systems for organising, retrieving and circulating resources.
Provide assistance to students in the effective use of these systems.
Ensure that the day to day administration of the information centre/library is efficient and that systems, resources and equipment are well maintained.
Prepare the learners to face life positively and with self-confidence and independence.
Carry out any additional responsibilities appropriate to the position.

Further Information
Internals of the Organization and NMS candidates, as well as external female candidates, will be considered as first-tier candidates. This vacancy is also open to second-tier candidates.
The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
Experience of working in the Jubaland State of Somalia’s regions is highly preferred.
