UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Aligned with Mali’s Strategic Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development (CREDD) adopted in 2019 and the new United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), UN Women has developed a 5-year Strategic Plan (2020-2024) focusing on the following strategic outcome areas: 1) women’s leadership and political participation; 2) women’s economic empowerment; 3) ending violence against women; 4) women, peace and security and humanitarian action, and 5) gender-sensitive planning and budgeting.
UN Women’s strategic approach puts emphasis on the creation of partnerships between Government, civil society, women’s movement, traditional leaders, private sector, academia, international development partners and other entities of the UN system, innovative approaches and solutions and on the principle of Leave No One Behind to achieve the results fixed in the UNSDCF.
UN Women will use its triple mandate normative, coordination and operational to contribute to the overall implementation of international and national frameworks such as SDG, CEDAW, Beijing Platform, Resolution 1325 and at the national level CREDD and UNSDCF.
Reporting to the Country Representative, [Mali], the Deputy Country Representative is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Mali CO. The incumbent is responsible for substantially contributing to the design, implementation, management and oversight of the country programme and to the operations supporting its implementation to ensure effective and efficient delivery of results as planned in UN Women’s Strategic Plan and the CO plans.
1. Manage the programme team
2. Provide advisory and specialized technical support on the strategic direction of the office
3. Represent UN Women in UN system coordination, with a focus on programming
4. Provide technical support in creation of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
5. Represent UN Women and support advocacy strategies
