The Civil Peace Service is a global program aimed at preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis zones and conflict regions. ZFD advisors support partner organizations in their commitment for dialogue, human rights and peace on a long-term basis.
As ZFD program coordinator, you are responsible for the management, operational implementation and further development of the component “Prevention of Displacement and Permanent Reintegration of Formerly Displaced Persons” in the Sidama and Gedeo / Guji areas in Ethiopia. The IDP component is part of the Civil Peace Service Ethiopia and is being implemented within the framework of the special initiative “Tackling the root causes of displacement, reintegrating refugees” of the BMZ.
By strengthening dialogue processes the component supports local participatory decision-making processes and the participation of women and young people. Joint activities that reach across ethnic boundaries reinforce social cohesion. The ZFD cooperates with civil society organizations and decentralized administrative structures.
You will lead a team of two seconded ZFD advisors and five national staff members. You will be assigned to the GIZ portfolio manager and will manage the component in consultation with the GIZ country office and the ZFD steering team in Bonn. In addition, you will coordinate closely with the coordinator of the other ZFD component in Ethiopia “Dialogue promotion for trust-based land and resource management in the Oromia region”. You are based in Hawassa with regular business trips to Addis Ababa.
