Position Summary:
The The Programmes Coordinator ‘s main objective is to oversee and effectively manage all of UHfH’s activities – leading by example and acting as a liaison between the organisation and its schools, the community/ beneficiaries and all the relevant stakeholders. The The Programmes Coordinator will be responsible for leading and developing the NGO to increase the number of sponsors, beneficiaries and programmes. She/he will oversee; all external communications, finances (in conjunction with the Finance Officer) and all other programmes that UHfH carries out, working closely with UHfH’s education departments as well as all other stakeholders/partners and the Director.
Essential Responsibilities of the Position
● Represent UHfH in the most positive manner with all children, parents, visitors, staff, sponsors and the community we serve.
● Proactively manage, lead and develop UHfH as an NGO and its schools; strengthening existing
programmes, developing new programmes and reaching out to more beneficiaries.
● Conduct all external communications with partners, stakeholders, sponsors and donors.
● Oversee finances and fundraising, including the development of new income streams.
● Ensure that Child Protection is at the center of all UHfH programs.
● Uphold the Mission of Uganda Hands for Hope: to help Uganda’s poorest help themselves by providing long term sustainable opportunities through education, livelihoods programs and skills training.
● Maintain confidentiality of all information gained from working with Uganda Hands for Hope. Handle Information with sensitivity, tact and discretion.

Knowledge
An understanding of the needs of vulnerable children and families living in informal urban settlements and the appropriate interventions required to support them.
An understanding of child sponsorship programmes, their benefits and drawbacks.
An understanding of child protection policy and practice.
Experience
Demonstrable experience developing and managing programmes in the NGO setting.
Demonstrable M&E experience and clear knowledge of such systems.
Demonstrable fundraising/proposal writing experience.
Experience of business development or income generation programmes.
Experience of working with vulnerable children and their families.
Experience of report-writing.
Experience of budget management.
Skills
Project and programme planning skills, including developing projects, plans and budgets and relevant management experience.
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop relationships and partnerships with a range of stakeholders.
Organizational ability allowing for efficient and timely coordination of information and contacts
Must have demonstrated ability to facilitate networks and build consensus.
Facilitation and training skills.
Ability to develop and coordinate small scale events.
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills.
IT skills; proficient in the use of programmes such as Word, Excel, Access and Publisher.
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as take individual initiative.
Interest in learning the local language is advantageous
Fluency in English.
