Gender Specialist FCDO/NUCAP Project
Save the Children is currently recruiting Gender Specialist for the anticipated 4-year FCDO Northern Uganda Climate Action Project (NUCAP), at our Country Office in Kampala. The project aims to strengthen capacity to contribute to the conservation and restoration of landscapes through the development of green, sustainable livelihoods, supported by well-functioning and incentivised value chains, whilst being inclusive of the private sector. This will be achieved through enhanced bio-diversity and conservation of native tree species, enhanced adaptive capacity and resilience to climate change for communities and landscape and lastly through diversifying green livelihoods and private sector investments. The FCDO funded NUCAP project will be implemented in a consortium of Save the Children (SCI), ECOTRUST & ICRAF. The Gender Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the gender transformative nature of project activities across the consortium, including addressing barriers to participation and land ownership, economic empowerment and leadership for women, and integrating appropriate responses. The Gender Specialist will provide dedicated technical support to systematically mainstream gender equality and equity activities /integrated gender transformative approaches to ensure equitable decision-making over assets and utilisation of natural resources. The Gender Technical Specialist is responsible for technical support and implementation of the gender component of the project across all consortium partners. S/he will coordinate national level gender-related advocacy activities and initiatives with government, CSOs and national level partners. In collaboration with the project MEAL Specialist, s/he contributes to monitoring programme quality, documentation and dissemination of innovations and good practices, as well as lessons learnt. S/he will contribute to gender policy research and advocacy through networking and collaboration with relevant civil society organisations and other institutions.
