Role Summary
Space for Giants is looking to recruit for a position in its Gabon team for a Stakeholder Engagement Manager. Space for Giants (Gabon) is presently in a rapid period of expansion as it seeks to deliver its core conservation objectives, and in particular two major and high-profile projects: 1. A national electric fence-building to mitigate the impact and limit instances of human-elephant conflict (HEC); 2. The continued implementation of its Conservation Investment programme to attract conservation-enabling investment into the country’s National Parks (primarily in the area of eco-tourism).
In order to achieve the successful delivery of these programmes, the Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be required to lead communications and fundraising for Gabon programmes. This includes management of fundraising and relevant program stakeholders both in Gabon (including at the Presidency, the Ministry of Water and Forests, the National Parks Agency (ANPN), the National Tourism Agency (AGATOUR), and the National Agency for Private Investment (ANPI), as well as Gabon-based and international donor organisations and individuals), within Space for Giants (with departments such as fundraising, communications, and the broader conservation team). The individual is expected to lead a programme to raise awareness among the Gabonese people of the HEC fence building project and its benefits. It is anticipated that this project will be delivered through the contracting of a Gabon-located communications agency, and the successful applicant will be required to be involved in the selection of the individual(s) or agency and management of this contract.
The job will be based in Libreville, and is expected to be based out of the Ministry of Water and Forests, although significant time will be spent out of the Space for Giants office in Libreville. Travel both within Gabon and internationally will be necessary as well. The position will report directly to Space for Giants’ Country Manager (Gabon) and will also work closely with the Executive Director, the Conservation Investment head and the Fundraising and Communications heads.
