Childline Kenya is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) registered in Kenya under the NGO Coordination Act in 2005.
We work to protect and promote a culture of children’s and human rights in the country by implementing innovative communication- and technology-driven programmes. Our core service is the National Child Helpline 116, a 24-hour toll-free helpline for children, young persons and their families.
Some of the response services linked to the helpline include
Psychological support
Rescue and reintegration
Facilitating access to justice and medical care
Childline Kenya’s prevention interventions:
Child rights education and awareness
Parenting and family support programs
School based abuse reporting systems(Speak out boxes)
Alternative approaches to discipline training for teachers and parents
Childline Kenya works with a network of members and referral partners from the children’s rights and child protection sector, who complement our services and allow us to offer each child the support they requires in areas such as health, legal aid, safe shelter, emergency response and counselling.
In addition to operating the National Child Helpline 116, Childline Kenya runs a number of public education programmes on child rights and child welfare issues through creating community awareness, organising media events, school and community outreach sessions, and educating parents. Web site
