The successful candidate will step into a fully-functional media operation that is expanding rapidly and that requires oversight and coordination in Maiduguri, Nigeria.
The role, which is suitable for experienced Senior managers from the NGO, private, or media production sectors, will assume overall responsibility for managing Nigerian operations. About Radio Ndarason Internationale – Where we are today
Every day, RNI is on the air for 24 hours, broadcasting on 6 FM frequencies in Chad – N’Djamena, Liwa, Baga Sola, Bol, Ngouri and Doum Doum (and soon Mao). For six hours per day, RNI covers the entire Lake Chad region and beyond on shortwave – three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening. Content is produced at studios in N’Djamena and Maiduguri and gathered from a network of correspondents across the four Lake Chad basin countries. RNI broadcasts in the principal languages of the Lake region – Kanuri, Kanembu and Buduma. There is also a summary of major news items in French, twice a day. The website – www.ndarason.com, provides text versions of the main news stories in English and French and a live stream of all output. RNI can also be heard live on the Ndarason app, available free from Play Store.
What distinguishes this regional radio network from other radios in the Lake Chad area?
RNI is both a regional radio station and four national stations, or, in other words – a network. The target audience is the entire Lake Chad region, where populations speaking Kanuri, Kanembu and Buduma are found. This region covers south-eastern Niger, north-eastern Nigeria, northern Cameroon, and the lake district of Chad. A secondary audience includes the diaspora populations in Sudan, Libya and the Central African Republic, who, as is the case with listeners throughout the region, can follow programming on shortwave. As is the case with other international stations, such as RFI, BBC and DW, the shortwave signal can be picked up well beyond the immediate target area.
