Main clients are the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), EU EuropeAid and other EU programmes, GIZ, FAO, USAID, WB and other public donors as well as private organisations/companies.

We are currently looking for a local Poultry Value Chain Experts in Ethiopia and /or Tanzania to support a cross regional value chain study. 

Qualifications:

• B.Sc./M.Sc./Phd in Agriculture, Animal Sciences, Veterinary Sciences or related fields
• Min. 8 years of professional experience in the respective value chain and market analysis
• Exceptional understanding of functioning & interlinkages of the value chain & value chain actors
• Very good network to local value chain actors/stakeholders
• Very good network to local institutions (farmer associations, universities, NGOs, government bodies etc.) in the field of dairy value chain
• Excellent data collection & report writing skills

Tasks:

1. Market Analysis:

• Conduct a comprehensive market analysis to understand the supply and demand dynamics, production-consumption balance and market trends poultry meat and derived products in Ethiopia and/or Tanzania ;
• Analyse factors such as production levels, consumer preferences, price mechanisms and market structures;
• Identify potential regional and international markets and the requirements for accessing these markets;

2. Mapping of the value chain:

·        Creation of detailed value chain maps for the local poultry meat sector in Ethiopia and/or Tanzania

• Identify opportunities for value addition, efficiency improvement and market linkages that will benefit both producers and consumers.

3. Risk assessment:

• Conduct a thorough risk assessment of poultry meat markets in Ethiopia and/or Tanzania.
• Analysing the risks associated with price volatility, disease outbreaks, climate change impacts, policy changes and market uncertainties.

4. Regulatory and policy analysis:

• Analysing the regulatory environment and policy framework for the poultry meat sector in Ethiopia and/or Tanzania
• Identification of factors that could hinder expansion of market access and private sector investment.

5. Policy recommendations and Reporting:

• Propose policy reforms based on the assessment findings to promote growth in poultry meat sector
• Contribute to a flagship report with specific sections for each value chain and country detailing findings and recommendations.
