For a future KfW funded project in Ethiopia, We are looking for international, regional and national experts with experience in projects related to agricultural value chains, agricultural institutional strengthening , cereal production, Agricultural mechanisation/irrigation.
The project “Strengthening of Rural Value Chains” aims to enhance agricultural productivity and market access in Ethiopia through climate-smart and ecologically sustainable practices. The Ministry of Agriculture will implement the project with support from KfW and BMZ.
The Services requested under this assignment are as follows:
The purpose of the present Project is: “Climate smart and ecologically sustainable increase of agricultural productivity and market access for high
potential rainfed farming systems in the targeted project areas.” (Project Objective) It has to be noted that market access in this Project mainly means access of farmers to input markets. In order to promote climate-resilient and agroecologically sustainable production of staple foods as well as strengthen value chains especially with regard to an improved input market access for the target group, strategically important agricultural value chains will be supported. The project concept is designed in such a way that necessary adjustments to the currently rapidly changing framework conditions are possible. The result is an open project approach that is closely linked to the FSRP and can address products and subject areas that the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) considers to be essential.
The project plans measures for the benefit of (a) the farmers, which are to be reached through farmer-related organizations; (b) key actors who are critical for
functioning value chains and (c) the Ministry and Bureaus of Agriculture (MoA, BoA), whose implementation capacities shall be improved.
Key activities include improving farmers’ access to high-quality inputs, enhancing the services of critical value chain actors, and boosting the capacities of the Ministry and local agricultural bureaus. The project will also focus on developing business plans, supporting farmer-based organizations and rural SMEs, and establishing effective regulatory and advisory services to create a resilient agricultural ecosystem.

Minimum requirements:
All experts must have some National or regional and IFI (KfW, ADB, AfD, GIZ, etc.) experience.
Experience in Ethiopia
Experience in East Africa
At least 10 years of general experience
At least 5 years of experience in the field (Expertise)
Experience in KfW funded projects is an asset
