TITLE: Humanitarian Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Advisor

CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year renewable
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
As part of these responsibilities, the post holder will support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our own staff and/ or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. The post holder should report and respond to interventions as determined by position-related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding policy.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Humanitarian Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Advisor will be a key member of the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assitance funded PRO-WASH & SCALE (Practices, Research, and Operations in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene and Strengthening Capacity in Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Environment) activity.
The purpose of PRO-WASH & SCALE is to strengthen the design, coordination, implementation, and overall effectiveness of key sector-specific interventions across BHA’s food and nutrition security portfolio in emergency, early recovery, risk reduction, and resilience (ER4) activities.
The Award’s technical intervention areas include WASH, agriculture, livelihoods, markets, infrastructure, natural and water resource management, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.
The Humanitarian WASH Advisor will support the implementation of humanitarian WASH activities under an integrated research, learning, and capacity-strengthening strategy. This includes supporting activities under these core purposes:
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Reports to: WASH Technical Director for the USAID/BHA funded PRO-WASH & SCALE Activity
Dimensions: The PRO-WASH & SCALE activity supports USAID/BHA partners whose work spans more than 60 countries.
