CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Overview of Program:

The CHAI Ghana Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) team currently provides technical and operational support to Ghana Health Service and other family planning partners for the scale-up of Subcutaneous Depot- medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA-SC) in Ghana and to share lessons learned and best practices globally in partnership with the PATH, Access Collaborative and other DMPA-SC introduction/scale-up partners. The project aims to increase and sustain access to and uptake of DMPA-SC to provide women and families with an expanded method mix and to reduce the unmet need for family planning. To date, DMPA-SC has been scaled up to all regions in Ghana. Despite the great strides made so far, uptake of DMPA-SC, particularly for self-injection, remains low. For this reason, CHAI’s next phase of support will target specific regions with interventions to promote the use of DMPA-SC for self-injection and help the regions address challenges to the successful scale-up of DMPA-SC.

Overview of Role:

CHAI is looking for two Regional Coordinators with analytical and program management expertise to support the implementation of interventions for the scale-up of DMPA-SC in Oti and Eastern Regions. Each Coordinator will provide analytical and programmatic support for the achievement of program milestones and targets. The successful candidates will work directly with the CHAI Ghana Sexual and Reproductive Health team and GHS at the regional level to implement specific interventions to increase uptake of DMPA-SC, particularly for self-injection (SI), and document learnings for other regions.

Based in Accra, the Regional Coordinators will be responsible for supporting the regional health directorate to build the capacity of relevant health care workers, strengthen data reporting, validation, and use, provide targeted mentoring support, and undertake community mobilization activities in support of DMPA-SC. They will also provide technical assistance to the government and other implementing partners in relation to monitoring and reporting in relation to DMPA-SC.

• Support GHS regional health directorates to capacitate and resource key health workers to undertake SI promotional activities, facilitate targeted support to health facilities in focused districts, and support project planning and review activities at regional and district levels.
• Track and analyze data, including data quality assessments, and support data use: implement monitoring activities, ensure availability of data collection tools, collect data on a regular basis to measure progress against performance indicators, and support standardized data validation process.
• Support GHS to track private facilities providing DMPA-SC/FP in the focus regions and work with them to improve private sector reporting.
• In collaboration with partners, review the progress of implementation and agree on any required changes, support, and resources.
• Identify lessons learned through high-quality presentations, reports, and publications within CHAI and among government stakeholders.
• Support capacity enhancement and mentoring of health providers.
• Provide the Project Manager with management information they may require.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Country Director.

• Bachelors degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, demography, or related field;
• A minimum of 2 years of working experience in public health programs;
• Proven experience in the analysis of health data;
• High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant statistical tools (STATA, SPSS, etc.);
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
• Enthusiasm to solve global health problems;
• Experience working in fast-paced, output-oriented environments;
• Knowledge of reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health, including family planning and/or other major global health problems;
• Experience living or working in resource-limited settings;
• Experience working with the public health sector in Ghana;
• Willingness to travel within and across regions.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, demography, or related field.
