Action Against Hunger-USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, which provides humanitarian relief in over 40 countries worldwide in the sectors of nutrition, health, water/sanitation, and food security. Action Against Hunger-USA, an independent NGO, currently manages operations in 8 countries: Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and Haiti.. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $100 million in programs, and approximately 1,600 staff based in in the various country offices, in New York City, Washington D.C, Nairobi, and country offices. Additional growth is anticipated.
The Business Development Coordinator will ensure overall programme portfolio growth under the strategic leadership of the Country Director in Action Against Hunger, Tanzania Mission. This position is required to work on new business development opportunities to grow Action Against Hunger Tanzania’s portfolio in a manner that assures ongoing quality, influence and impact. To achieve this goal, the Business Development Coordinator will champion and coordinate Action Against Hunger’s resource acquisition processes from a wide range of donors, multi-lateral organizations, foundations, corporations, as well as a variety of emerging non-traditional funding streams. The position holder will work with the Country Director, technical leads regional office, Regional Grants and Contracts Team, USG Business Development Team, and International network member teams to: (a) grow revenue; and (b) achieve excellence in execution of grants through effective grants monitoring, preparation of quality and timely donor reports, and ensuring compliance with donor and internal regulations and standards.
Purpose
The Business Development Coordinator, role has three main aspects to it: leading grant acquisition, leading and develop country office (CO) grant management effort, compliance and reporting
Engagement
Externally:Â Donors, partners and stakeholders Identifies, creates, and maintains strategic and productive relationships with authorities and other organizations (local & international) working in the same sectors as Action Against Hunger.
Internally:Â Country Director, Departmental Leads, Regional Grants, Finance and technical Teams, and USG Business Development Team, to coordinate the materialization of funding opportunities, including strengthening capacities of program leads to contribute efficiently to project design and preparation of proposals and reports.
The position also collaborates with regional and international network member Grants/Awards team.
They will also liaise with regional program teams to ensure Action Against Hunger Tanzania programs remain aligned with global strategic priorities and receive ongoing technical support.
Delivery
The position will be responsible for delivering an efficient and effective grant cycle management function – Coordinates all proposal development processes – ensuring timely and quality submissions and is comfortable to be rated by win rate and revenue targets, as well as compliance and reporting.

This is a non-accompanied position which is based at the Action Against Hunger Tanzania country office which is located in Dar es Saalam. The role holder must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required. He/she must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business purposes. While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as to infectious diseases.
