Development of a Basin Diagnostic and a Strategic Action Plan for the Juba Basin, Somalia and preparation of prioritized actions project
Stakeholder Engagement Expert with at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 7 years of experience working on social impact assessment for development projects, including the need for relocation of people and enterprises, and familiarity with national safeguards policies, including gender and citizen engagement requirements.
The geographical coverage of the project is Gedo Middle and Low juba regions in Somalia include wit the upper catchment with the aim to develop a basin diagnostic and a strategic action plan for the Juba River basin jointly with stakeholders at state and sub-state levels regarding effective and improved management of the increasingly scarce water resources of the Juba river basin by identifying priority measures addressing agricultural and livestock production, climate change, environmental protection, gender issues and also potential for energy generation. Specifically, the basin diagnostic and a strategic action plan for the Juba basin shall be developed in a phased approach with four main components (Global Environment Facility’s approach of (Transboundary), Diagnostic Assessments (TDA); the European Union (EU)’s approaches for basin analyses in the context of the EU and Water Framework Directive (EU WFD)) that build on each other and shall be accompanied by a comprehensive consultative process.
