SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organization for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organization, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through care, education, health, and emergency relief services. We also advocate for children’s and young people’s rights in alliance with many partners. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families, and caregivers annually.
By effectively integrating education as a core component of SOS Children’s Villages programming, SOS CV aims to enhance access to and improve the quality of education services for children without parental care or at risk of losing it, including children in alternative care.
SOS Children’s Villages in the WCNA region aims to increase impact by working in partnership with duty bearers and other stakeholders to build on existing initiatives, systems, resources, and capacities of the communities in which we operate.
The Regional Education Coordinator will support a strategic approach towards increased reach and improved regional partnerships, providing expert technical support to this process at every step. This role requires expertise in education in development and humanitarian contexts, education systems, and a high degree of professionalism and collaboration. The Coordinator will work closely with national, regional, and global teams, communities, partners, and government stakeholders to strengthen the education of SOS Children’s Villages Member Associations in the WCNA region, including Senegal, Liberia, and Guinea.
Purpose:
The Regional Education Coordinator will be responsible for providing expert technical support by assuring ongoing professional development in Member Associations and supporting the design and implementation of programming with quality indicators and effective results-based monitoring and data collection in place.
In close collaboration with the Global Education Advisor, the incumbent will also lead regional mapping and development of an education framework aligned to a global evaluation process supporting a comprehensive and contextualized organizational User Guide for Education.
The mapping process will identify contextually specific socio-cultural and financial barriers to access for the target population, assess existing organizational flagship programmes, and identify and engage scalable promising practices and partners in the region.
The Regional Education Coordinator will also support the development of a strategic partnership framework, building from the organization’s mission and strategy to increase reach through initiating strong partnerships designed to strengthen families, communities, and systems for children at risk of losing parental care. This process will include identifying and cultivating partnerships that increase access to formal and non-formal education, increase quality through sustainable support to systems, and assure child protection and safeguarding for more children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care.

Education |
Bachelors Degree in Education or Related Field Required, Masters Degree Preferred |
Experience |
At least 05 years of progressively responsible experience in education, youth empowerment, and early childhood development with a demonstrated project or programme management expertise. Experience engaging with Government Ministries. Experience facilitating training and providing coaching and mentoring to support teacher professional development Experience working with community engagement and civil society with a deep commitment to vulnerable children Experience in programme design Experience developing and facilitating training. At least 01 years of experience in data collection or monitoring and evaluation, with a preference for a results-based management approach |
