Qualifications and skills
At least Master’s Degree (or equivalent diploma) in a subject relevant to development cooperation (indicatively political science, international relations, economics, social sciences, law) or equivalent professional experience of minimum 5 years in development work, in addition to the minimum general professional experience requirement mentioned below)
Fluency in English (at least C1 level) is a must, fluency in Zulu, Xhosa or Afrikaans (B2 level) is considered an asset
General professional experience
At least 15 years of professional experience in South Africa, including
Minimum 4 years in policy dialogue
Minimum 5 years in conceptualisation and facilitation of institutional capacity-building for Government Departments
Specific professional experience
Technical expertise in one or more sectors of EU-SA policy dialogue and cooperation, e.g., climate change, energy, digitalisation, R&D, human rights, education, migration, employment, etc.
Experience in developing training materials and facilitating training workshops
Experience in the conceptualisation, organisation and dissemination of calls for proposals is an asset
Practical knowledge of South African Government and policies is an asset
Practical knowledge of EU policies and strategic partnerships is an asset
