GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
As part of the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons’ (J/TIP’s) Child Protection Compact (CPC) awarded to Save the Children, The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) will undertake activities to support prosecutors and judges in Côte d’Ivoire in their understanding of those crimes that are related to child sex exploitation, labor exploitation, and trafficking and in their prosecution and judgment of those cases in an effective, consistent manner, appropriately applying anti-trafficking and other law.
ICMEC is looking for a Prosecutorial and Judicial Expert and Mentor who is a native French speaker, speaks and writes English fluently, and has deep experience in Cote d’Ivoire or in neighboring countries.
The Prosecutorial and Judicial Expert (PJEM) and Mentor will be responsible for working collaboratively with prosecutors and judges in Côte d’Ivoire, and regional and international judicial organizations, as well as with ICMEC, Save the Children, and other NGOs. The PJEM will coordinate with ICMEC’s Police Mentor, also located in Abidjan, for the Côte d’Ivoire project. Both will promote ICMEC’s French language online, on-demand resources and may be involved in the development of new videos required by this grant. The PJEM will promote the materials to law and judicial associations and relevant university faculties, among other target audiences. The PJEM will report to ICMEC’s Vice President for National Capacity Building and will carry out the duties described below:
