The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Devel-opment launched in 2014 the global initiative „One World with-out Hunger“. The objective of the global program „Innovation centres for agriculture and food sector” which forms part of the global initiative is: Innovation in the agriculture and food sector have improved income of smallholder farmers, employment and food provision. Under this framework the country module AgrInNet Nigeria has been developed being subject of this tender.
AgrInNet Nigeria has been designed with stakeholders in Ni-geria to promote the value chains Maize, Rice, Cassava and Irish potato. The support strategy comprises the following intervention areas:
Development of ICT-supported and face-to-face value chain platforms for innovation management & competence development.
Supporting value chain actors in accessing and benefiting from innovations.
Making use of innovations to build inclusive business models.
The country module AgrInNet Nigeria shall contribute signifi-cantly to achieve the objective of the global program “Innova-tion centres for agriculture and food sector”. The contribution will be measured with the following indicators:
Increased net income of agricultural smallholdings from sales of products of the supported value chains.
Increased average productivity of land, labor and/or capital in agricultural smallholdings and increased average productivity of labor and/or capital in up- and downstream agribusinesses.
Increased employment along the promoted value chains and in the up- and downstream agribusinesses; whereby women and youth account for 35% and 20% respectively of increased employment.
Increased participation of agricultural smallholdings and up- and downstream agribusinesses in training courses, extension and/or in vocational education programs; participation of women and youth in these programs ac-count for 30% and 20% respectively.
Improved framework conditions for sustainable structural changes within the selected chains through interest groups of value chain actors.
Developed active partnerships for the promotion of innova-tions in selected value chains at national, regional and/or global level.
The envisaged regions for implementation of the country mod-ule AgrInNet Nigeria are as follows:
Federal Capital Territory (Hub and secretariat)
Abia, Cross River, Edo, Ekiti, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau States (Outreach and capacity devel-opment measures for target groups and partners at state level).
For this project we are looking for 4 National experts for value chain promotion (in total up to 128 person months)
Minimum 7 years working experience in knowledge and innovation management, extension,
Large- scale trainings and promotion of the value chains Maize, Rice, Cassava and Irish potato;
Working experience at all levels of value chains: smallholder farm enterprises, agribusinesses, involved private and public sector organizations;
Promotion of financial services for value chain actors.
