About FilmAid:
FilmAid international is a community-based, impact-driven humanitarian communications organization. Since 1999, FilmAid has worked to enhance the effectiveness of aid delivery, knowledge transfer, community resilience, and behavior change in complex emergencies in East Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Our community-centered methodology differentiates FilmAid from other communications organizations and enables us to create more effective, more targeted and more measurable communications campaigns that can materially affect and improve the lives of refugees around the world.
Overall Objective of the consultancy but not limited to:
● Thoroughly research content messaging to finalise key messages with FilmAid programmatic staff and partner agencies.
● Develop a story for a 2 part documentary to be aired on national TV.
● Develop a theme for 10 short film stories
● Write scripts for a two part documentary and 10 short film stories
● Direct content for documentary and 10 short film stories
● Work with the editor to create a director’s cut before the final version.
Essential Skills, qualifications and experience and Competencies
● Confident in spoken and written English.
● Experience in documentary writing.
● Strong knowledge of video camera operation.
● At least 5 years’ experience in documentary production or related field.
● Creative mindset and passionate about storytelling through film
● Confident communicator, honest and reliable with the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
● Commitment to humanitarian principles and action.
● Experience working in hardship areas.
