Duties and Responsibilities

The Geospatial information Management Section (GiMS) of the African Centre for Statistics of ECA is seeking for an intern on geospatial information science and technology. The internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the programme. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work for five days per week (35 hours) under overall guidance of the Chief, GiMS and the direct supervision of the Senior geospatial information officers of GiMS and other members of the Section. Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Languages

English and French are the working Languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of the other is an advantage.
