Update
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Guinea is at the forefront of advocating and implementing strategies for eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities and exclusion, and building resilience to sustain progress in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Given the complex nature of challenges Guinea has, UNDP’s approach is integrative, focusing on systems and the interconnections between thematic sectors to devise solutions that are deeply rooted in the daily realities of the people we serve. In this context, the role of the Partnership and Communication officer will be important. The assignment is situated against a backdrop where Guinea, despite various development approaches over the past decades, continues to grapple with persistent issues related to poverty, inequalities, energy, and environmental concerns. Compounded by shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic, these challenges have exacerbated the vulnerabilities of a country already listed among the poorest globally. The incumbent will play a critical role in enhancing our engagement with existing and potential financial partners, both public and private, to address these persistent challenges. One key area of focus is to crowd in private sector investments, notably from entities such as mining companies operating within Guinea, as part of a broader strategy to mobilize resources for development initiatives. The primary responsibilities will include articulating UNDP’s development offer to all financial partners clearly and compellingly. This involves creating persuasive and informative communication materials, such as infographics, that effectively convey our strategies and goals. Active communication and engagement with partners are crucial for mobilizing their resources and support. Furthermore, this role is not just about financial resource mobilization but also about building and nurturing relationships. The incumbent will work towards understanding partners’ perspectives and aligning our development objectives with their interests and capacities. By doing so, we aim to create a synergistic environment where collaborative efforts can lead to significant strides in addressing the various development issues plaguing Guinea. The Partnership and Communication Officer will be at the heart of UNDP’s efforts in Guinea, bridging the gap between our development goals and the partners who can help achieve them. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Guinea’s development journey, touching lives and making a tangible difference in a country poised for transformative change.
